During normal plant operation CIDAS produces a distinctive confidence pip tone indicating that the system is functioning properly.

The layout of a CIDAS system and the placement of detectors are determined using a plant modelling process with contour maps that highlight criticality evacuation areas and the routes by which personnel can be evacuated to a safe distance following an incident.
