The unique and innovative IonSens system provides highly accurate and cost effective alpha measurements of the internal and external surfaces of cut pipes and scaffolding, complex process equipment, bent pipework and the external surfaces of ingots.

This operationally proven, non-intrusive measurement technique enables such items to be categorised as either low level waste or unrestricted release, allowing selection of the most appropriate and cost effective option for disposal or re-use. TRU/PCM wastes can also be reclassified to low level waste after decontamination of the items concerned.

The modular design of IonSens monitors accommodates different item sizes and facilitates easy maintenance and decontamination as well as the easy replacement of components and provision for future upgrades.

A unique and operationally proven, non-intrusive measurement technique
	The IonSens technique is particularly successful because, unlike conventional alpha monitoring systems it remotely detects and measures the ions produced by alpha particle interaction with air on all exposed surfaces, without needing to be close to the areas of contamination. This means that areas such as the internal surfaces of pipes or fuel cans which are difficult to access and often impossible to measure accurately by conventional methods pose no problem to the IonSens monitor.
